Now at 84, Gray's journey from a young actress to a seasoned producer and advocate is both inspiring and noteworthy.​

Born on August 12, 1940, in Santa Monica, California, Linda Gray faced early health challenges, including a battle with polio. Despite this, she pursued her passion for performing, taking part in neighborhood shows and starring as Cinderella during her time at Notre Dame Academy in Los Angeles. Her professional career began with modeling, which eventually led to acting roles in television commercials and series.

Gray's most significant role came in 1978 when she was cast as Sue Ellen Ewing in "Dallas." Her portrayal of the complex character earned her critical acclaim, including two Golden Globe nominations and an Emmy nomination. The series achieved remarkable success, with certain episodes attracting over 80 million viewers, making it one of the most-watched programs in American television history.​

Beyond her professional achievements, Gray navigated personal challenges, including a tumultuous marriage to photographer Ed Thrasher and the profound loss of her son, Jeff, to leukemia in 2020. These experiences have deeply influenced her perspective and philanthropic endeavors.​

In the wake of personal loss, Gray has channeled her energy into charitable activities. She co-chaired the Farrah Fawcett Foundation's Tex-Mex Fiesta in Dallas, aiming to raise funds for cancer research—a cause close to her heart. Her involvement with the foundation began after she received their Angel Award in 2022, following her son's passing. ​

Gray's philanthropic efforts extend globally. As a U.S. Goodwill Ambassador from 1997 to 2011, she collaborated with organizations like Meals on Wheels and Nourish the Children in Malawi, distributing food to villages in need. She continues to support initiatives such as Baby2Baby, providing essentials to underprivileged children. ​

She has expressed interest in collaborating with former co-star Patrick Duffy on a TV movie set at the original "Dallas" filming location, Southfork Ranch. The proposed storyline features Gray and Duffy as characters who haunt the ranch, adding a supernatural twist to the beloved setting. ​
