Jillian Lauren Shriner, Wife of Weezer’s Scott Shriner, Shot by LAPD Amidst Neighborhood Manhunt

At approximately 3:25 PM PT, Los Angeles police were conducting a search for three individuals who had fled the scene of a multi-car accident on the 134 Freeway. During their search in the residential area, officers encountered Jillian Lauren Shriner outside her home, armed with a handgun. Despite repeated commands to lower the weapon, Shriner allegedly pointed it at the officers, prompting them to open fire. She was struck in the shoulder and retreated into her residence.

Later, Shriner emerged from her home accompanied by the family's babysitter and was taken into custody without further incident. She was treated for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound at a local hospital. Although not connected to the original hit-and-run investigation, Shriner was booked on suspicion of attempted murder, with bail set at $1 million.

Jillian Lauren Shriner, 51, is a noted author known for her memoirs, including "Some Girls: My Life in a Harem" and "Everything You Ever Wanted." She has been married to Scott Shriner since 2005, and the couple has two adopted children. Scott Shriner has been the bassist for Weezer since 2001.

The incident occurred just days before Weezer's scheduled performance at the Coachella music festival. The band is slated to take the stage at the Mojave tent on Saturday.

The shooting of Jillian Lauren Shriner by LAPD has raised questions about the use of force and the chain of events that led to the unintended involvement of an innocent civilian. As legal proceedings unfold, the Shriner family's experience serves as a poignant reminder of the complexities and potential consequences of law enforcement operations in residential areas.
