A viral story is causing a stir online after a Brazilian model and cosplayer, Kine-Chan, said she was denied boarding at an airport for wearing a bikini as part of her cosplay. The 21-year-old was dressed as Rebecca, a popular character from the anime series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.
Kine-Chan wore a black bikini, blue wig, and black sandals while heading to the Navegantes Airport in Brazil. She had just come from a cosplay event and explained that she wore the costume to save time, expecting to go straight to her hotel room after landing.
“I knew I might be late, so I decided to travel in costume,” she wrote on Instagram. “But the staff told me my outfit wasn’t ‘appropriate’ and I needed to go home and change.”
Her Instagram post quickly got thousands of views and comments. While some people agreed the outfit was not right for airport travel, others defended her freedom to dress how she wants—especially as a performer and artist.
One follower wrote:
“I love you, Kine, but maybe a cover-up would’ve helped—like a dress or jacket.”
Another fan disagreed:
“It’s unfair to judge someone for their art. Cosplay is a form of expression, and your outfit was true to the character.”
This moment has started a wider conversation about airport dress codes, personal freedom, and how people—especially women—are judged for their appearance in public places.
It’s not the first time a travel-related story has gone viral. Recently, a TikTok video showed a woman refusing to give up her plane seat for a mom with two kids, sparking another hot topic.
As for Kine-Chan, she’s standing by her choice and continues to post cosplay photos for her thousands of fans.
